Glossary

In short

Every term SendPath uses, in plain language. Underlined words in the docs link here.

A/B test (variant)
Two to five versions of the same email step, split between contacts, to see which one gets more replies. Read more
App password
A separate password that Gmail or Yahoo creates for one app, so you never share your real password. Read more
Bounce
An email that couldn't be delivered, usually because the address doesn't exist. Too many hurt your domain. Read more
Cold email
A first email to someone who doesn't know you yet, sent one to one from a real mailbox. Read more
Credits (SendPath AI)
What SendPath AI's writing uses. Each job uses what it actually costs; sending never uses credits. Read more
Daily cap
The most emails one mailbox sends in a day, campaigns and warm-up together. 50 unless you change it. Read more
DKIM
A signature on every email that proves it wasn't changed on the way. Your email provider gives you the record. Read more
DMARC
A DNS record that tells inboxes what to do with mail that fails SPF and DKIM. Gmail and Yahoo expect one. Read more
DNS
Your domain's public settings, kept where you bought or manage the domain (Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap...). Read more
Domain
The part of an email address after the @, like acme.com. Its reputation is shared by every mailbox on it.
Follow-up
A later step of a sequence, sent only to contacts who haven't replied yet. Read more
IMAP
How SendPath reads a mailbox, to find replies and bounces. Read more
Inbox placement
The share of emails that land in the inbox (a Promotions tab counts) rather than spam. Read more
MCP
The standard way AI apps like Claude and ChatGPT connect to other tools. SendPath's MCP connection can only read. Read more
MX record
The DNS record that says which server receives your domain's mail. Without it, replies bounce. Read more
One-click unsubscribe
The Unsubscribe button Gmail and other mail apps show next to the sender. SendPath adds it to every email. Read more
Open and link tracking
Counting opens with an invisible image and clicks with a redirect. Off by default: both can hurt inbox placement. Read more
Pre-send gate
The checks every campaign and every email must pass before it's sent. Nothing can skip them. Read more
Ramp
Warm-up's slow start: 3 emails on day 1, then a few more each day, up to the mailbox's warm-up limit. Read more
Reply-to
An address that replies go to instead of the sender. Leave it empty so SendPath can read the replies. Read more
Seed mailbox
One of SendPath's own mailboxes that receives warm-up emails, opens them, rescues them from spam and replies. Read more
Sender (mailbox)
A mailbox you connected to send from. You own it; SendPath sends through it and reads its replies. Read more
Sender reputation
How much Gmail and Outlook trust mail from your domain and mailbox, built from how people react to it. Read more
Sequence
A campaign's emails in order: the first email and its follow-ups, with a wait before each. Read more
SMTP
How a mailbox sends email. SendPath sends through your mailbox's SMTP server. Read more
Spam complaint
When a recipient clicks Report spam. A few of these can send your next emails to spam.
SPF
A DNS record that lists who may send email for your domain. Without it, most mail is rejected or lands in spam. Read more
Spintax
{{RANDOM | Hi | Hello}}: each contact gets one of the options, so your emails don't all read the same. Read more
Suppression
An address that is never emailed again from your workspace: unsubscribes, bounces and ones you add. Read more
Test email
The campaign's emails sent to you once. Required before a campaign starts, and again after the emails change. Read more
Variable
A placeholder like {{first_name}} that is filled in from the contact's row in your list. Read more
Verification
Checking each address before it's emailed: each one comes back valid or invalid, and only valid ones are sent to. Read more
Verification credit
Checks one address once your plan's verifications for the month are used. Bought in any amount; never expires. Read more
Warm-up
A mailbox sending a few ordinary emails a day to seed mailboxes, so inboxes learn to trust it. Read more
Workspace
One company's mailboxes, lists, campaigns and team, with its own plan. Agencies use one per client. Read more
